Final Course Reflection
My way of thinking about science and humanities has definitely changed after taking up this course. Even though this course was a requirement for me, I have gained plenty of information and have taken a new look into technology and the advances that have happened. I can say that I have made new connections with science more than humanities since humanities is my field of interest, I never really paid science that much of mind. I am more optimistic when it comes to science just by learning a lot form this course alone makes me want to learn more and stay tuned into whats the next big thing to happen with technology and science.

Blog Assignment # 7
Rosalind Franklin
Chemist
Franklin has been the only women scientist to have the most controversy surround her at the time when she discovered the structure of DNA ( the double helix) and the x-ray diffraction.
Looking at Franklin's biography and life story, she was fully into her work and she never gave up with her research. When many of her coworkers left work and went out, Franklin had stayed in and did her research trying to come to conclusions. Many also saw Franklin as mean and not sociable. Becoming a successful scientist, one has to be dedicated and has to put in a lot of time along with effort into their work such as Franklin did. Franklin of course did face many challenges and this is why she faced so much controversy in her lifetime. One of the challenges Franklin faced was the obvious which is her being a female and doing work in the field of science. The other major challenge which Franklin faced was the the amount of credit that was given to Franklin for her discoveries. That was by far the most biggest controversies that she faced. One of the many pictures Franklin had taken of the DNA, only one of them was most important which was called Photo 51. That photo had fell into the hands of Maurice Wilkins which had used the photo and had credited himself and his peer for discovering the DNA structure, when it was Franklin. Franklin did not get recognition towards her discovery until after she passed at he age of 37. The Noble Prize was given to her peers: Wilkins, Watson & Crick. 25 years after the fact Franklin was given credit to the work and they have done research that Franklin was part of this discovery and she did have the highest rank of education rather than the rest of her peers.
